Eating for champions

Make time for regular meals and don’t skip breakfast.

Breakfast is a great way to give a kick start to your energy levels at the start of the day. Try switching to lower sugar cereals or other breakfast options like toast. If you add chopped fruit or a glass of unsweetened fruit juice then that counts toward your 5 A DAY too!

Eat carbohydrate-rich foods as soon as possible after an exercise session (bread, breakfast cereals, pasta, rice, noodles or potatoes) to give you the energy you need for exercise.

We need protein for our muscles to grow and repair themselves. The good news is that most people in the UK eat more protein than they need so you should be able to get all the protein you need by eating a variety of foods.
